Meet our Senior Leadership Team
ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø – Mr Paul Sjogren

Paul Sjogren was officially commissioned as the eighth ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø of Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in 2017. Before this, he was Head of a Wigan Boarding House at Ballarat Grammar ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø, Head of Mathematics at Whitsunday Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in Mackay, and Director of Senior ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø and Deputy ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø at St Andrew’s Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast. He has also taught overseas in Indiana and Florida in the USA.

A product of regional Anglican school education, Paul is an advocate of the moral and ethical foundations that underpin Anglican education. He emphasises the importance of giving students the opportunity and support to reach their potential in all aspects of their schooling.

Paul has an unmatched commitment to optimising student academic achievement. He nurtures a supportive and engaging culture and values the importance of extension experiences to build character and resilience.

Paul believes that truly outstanding schools can balance the global and digital future needs of students with the traditional values of hard work, tolerance, teamwork, leadership and service. As a result, Paul has created a positive, engaged, award-winning school community that is growing quickly and achieving amazing outcomes.

Deputy ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø – Mr Tim Manea

Tim Manea joined Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in 2016 as the Director of Innovation, Teaching & Learning. Before arriving at TAS, Tim held several positions at St Mark’s Anglican Community ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in Western Australia, where he taught for 17 years, including in roles such as Dean of Curriculum and Head of the English Faculty. Tim was also the recipient of the Peter Foss Scholarship at St Mark’s ACS, as well as being selected as a distinguished Educator in Residence with Rubicon International, based out of Portland, Oregon.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Diploma of Education from the University of Western Australia and is finalising his Master of Education Studies from the same institution.

As a senior leader at Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø, Tim oversees the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, ensuring that it is directly aligned to the strategic goals of the school. The result of this work has seen steady and sustained growth in the academic results across the school – including NAPLAN and QCAA end of Year 12 data.

In 2021, Tim was appointed the Deputy ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø – Head of Teaching & Learning at Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø, and he hopes to continue to influence the educational landscape in Cairns and beyond. He looks forward to a continued focus at TAS on producing students who think and act locally and globally.

Head of White Rock Campus Secondary – Ms Belinda De Guzman

Originally from the UK, Belinda joined TAS in 2023, bringing with her significant experience and interest in pastoral leadership in a secondary school setting.

Coming to TAS after 12 years at Aquinas College in Victoria, Belinda has completed a Masters of Education specialising in Student Wellbeing and has completed the Positive Psychology program through Geelong Grammar.

She has a BA Honours Degree in Theology (Ethics and Philosophy) and in her career to date has held the senior roles of Assistant ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø and Head of Year Level.

Belinda prides herself on building community through a collaborative approach between families and staff to achieve positive outcomes for all students. We are looking forward to Belinda joining our team and leading the growth of our Secondary ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø.

Head of Business Services - Mrs Kathy Romano

Kathy Romano has been associated with Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍøs for many years. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and previous to TAS, Kathy was employed by The Cathedral ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in Townsville where she was the Business Manager for eleven and a half years.

Kathy was seconded to Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in 2019 for a six-month long service leave placement. After developing a connection with the school, she returned again in June 2020 as the Head of Business Services.

As a senior executive staff member, Kathy provides strong strategic leadership and management skills to the finance and administration teams, licensed centers, retail centre, and the maintenance, cleaning and tuckshop staff.

Kathy’s goal is to work collaboratively with staff to ensure TAS has capable teams in order to develop a resourceful, cohesive, financially robust and well-respected ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø.

Head of White Rock Campus Primary – Mr Peter Gazzola

Peter Gazzola moved to Cairns in 2018 after accepting a contract role as Head of Primary at the White Rock Campus. Feeling a strong connection with the values and community of TAS, he has remained in this role and continues to share his passion for innovation and technology.

Peter graduated from the Australian Catholic University as valedictorian before teaching in the Catholic school system in Victoria where he held senior roles as Deputy ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø, acting ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø and played a valuable role in the development of strategic plans.

He is a passionate advocate for technology in the classroom and even pioneered initiatives to combine technology with inquiry through embedded ICT and laptop programs before being seconded to the independent system at Ivanhoe Grammar ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø and St Andrew’s Anglican College.

Peter has recently attended conferences both in Australia and overseas and has also published articles on implementing effective change for schools in the ISQ Catalyst and the Independent Learner magazines. Peter’s son is the Head Coach for the Marlin Swimming Club, and his daughter, who graduated from RMIT with Honours in Architecture, is completing her Masters at the Bartlett ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø of Architecture at the University College London.

Head of Kewarra Beach Campus Primary – Mrs Mary Kershaw

Mary Kershaw joined Trinity Anglican ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in 2015, before being appointed as Head of Primary at Kewarra Beach Campus in 2017.

She is a graduate of the University of New England where she completed a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Guidance and Counselling. Prior to TAS she was a Middle ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø Coordinator, Learning Enrichment Coordinator and Acting ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÍø in New South Wales, Townsville, Ayr and Cairns.

A dedicated educator, she is committed to creating a positive learning culture that supports holistic and inclusive education.

Mary is a passionate and exemplary advocate of nature-based learning and sustainability and has pioneered many initiatives at the Kewarra Beach Campus.

Mary is married with two adult sons, both of whom are TAS graduates. Nicholas is a Software Engineer with the Department of Natural Resources, Mining and Energy in Brisbane, and Vincent is a Defence Scientist with the Department of Defence, Science and Technology in Sydney.

Head of Cocurricular – Mr Darren Osmond

Darren Osmond joined TAS as the Director of Activities in 2006, before becoming Head of Co-Curricular and Director of Outdoor Education. He has over 25 years of experience working in the Outdoor Education, Recreation and Sports Industry and has travelled widely to approximately 30 countries.

Darren’s knowledge of the tropical environment from an Outdoor Education perspective is unrivalled, supported by his degrees in Exercise Science (Human Movement), Outdoor Education and Education. He has undertaken higher-level training in several areas, including Lifeguarding and Rescue, Wilderness First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid.

His role extends as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Leader and as the World Challenge Leader, having led Expeditions to Borneo, Ecuador, Tanzania, Nepal and India.

His passion has created an innovative department that has more recently been a finalist in the 2018 Noreen Wilcox Teaching Awards, 2020 Outdoor Queensland Awards in the individual category, Outdoors Queensland Outstanding Achievement Award and the Australia Education Awards Best-Co-Curricular Program category. Darren has presented at many state and national outdoor education conferences and has been published in Outdoor Australia magazine, The Cairns Post, and PAKMAG.
